Story Behind the Invention

Stephanie Overbeck
Inventor Stephanie Overbeck of Montrose, IL has created a device designed to hold the belts of a child’s car seat out of the way during placement or removal of the child.

For Stephanie, a new mom to her 7-month-old son, daily outings were difficult. Each time she placed her baby in his car seat, the straps would slide underneath him, making it impossible to buckle without digging them out. Wrestling with tangled straps became part of their routine, leaving her wondering why such a common problem didn’t already have a simple solution. In turn, she was inspired to develop Belt Buddies! Now, parents and caregivers will be able to enjoy easier, smoother transitions in and out of the car, without the usual stress or frustration.

But how does it work? The invention easily attaches to the car seat frame, effectively holding the left and right harness straps aside, reducing the usual hassle. No more wrestling with straps or searching for belts, just easy access every time. The invention can be used across different car seats and easily stores away when not in use.
